A postdoctoral research position is available for an outstanding early career researcher to join the Department of Cognitive Science. The successful applicant will carry out and publish research in the area of visual perception, assist in PhD supervision and contribute to the intellectual life of the Department.

The Role

The postdoctoral position will support a new research program funded by an Australian Research Council to A/Prof Mark Williams, which focuses on neural plasticity and filling-in in primary visual cortex. You will be responsible for helping to direct this program of research as well as have an opportunity to develop his/her independent research.

Applicants will have a strong track record relative to career stage, including publications and/or conference presentations in cognitive psychology or other relevant areas.

Selection Criteria

Essential

• PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience or equivalent submitted prior to the commencement of the Fellowship
• Track record in Neuroimaging
• Strong track record relative to career stage, including publications and/or conference presentations
• Research program consistent with the goals of the Project

Desirable

• PhD research in visual perception and neuroimaging
• Extensive experience in designing, conducting, coding and analysing neuroimaging experiments
• Recognition of the excellence of their research

Salary Package: Level A, Step 6 from $ $77,020 - $82,542 p.a., plus 9% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading.  An appointee with a PhD will be appointed to a minimum of Step 6 on the salary scale.

Appointment Type: Full-time, fixed-term, 1 year available from June 2013.
