The Role

The Department of Educational Studies is seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Creative Arts. The successful applicant will contribute to teaching and convening Creative Arts units at undergraduate and postgraduate level in the area of Music. Ability to teach introductory pedagogy in Dance would also be an advantage. Applicants should hold a PhD in a relevant discipline. Experience teaching in schools or prior-to school services is expected.

Our Creative Arts units are taught in teams and the successful applicant will be involved in curriculum development as well as the preparation and delivery of online learning materials for distance students.

The successful candidate will contribute to the scholarship of the Department through a program of personal research, higher degree research supervision and University community engagement activities.

Selection Criteria

Essential – Level B

  • A PhD or evidence of equivalent research recognition in a relevant discipline
  • A well-articulated research agenda and a track record of good quality publications relevant to stage of career
  • Demonstrated academic knowledge in the discipline and a commitment and capability to deliver high quality learning and teaching, including the design, delivery, and management of lectures, tutorials, and assessment
  • Excellent communication skills, with an ability to relate to staff and students from all backgrounds and to represent the Department to external stakeholders and the general public
  • Demonstrated experience to make a useful contribution to the academic life and administrative tasks of the Department with a track record of effective team work

Desirable – Level B

  • A demonstrated ability to attract external funding for research and a record of competitive grant successes
  • Experience and interest in interdisciplinary research

Essential – Level C

  • A PhD or evidence of equivalent research recognition in a relevant discipline
  • A well-articulated research agenda and a track record of publications in high quality journals
  • A demonstrated ability to attract external funding for research and a record of competitive grant successes
  • Demonstrated academic knowledge in the discipline and a commitment and capability to deliver high quality learning and teaching, including the design, delivery, and management of programs, lectures, tutorials, and assessments
  • Excellent communication skills, with an ability to relate to staff and students from all backgrounds and to represent the Department to external stakeholders and the general public
  • Experience with research student supervision
  • Demonstrated experience to make a useful contribution to the academic life and administrative tasks of the Department with a track record of effective team work

Desirable – Level C

  • Experience and interest in interdisciplinary research
  • Experience in the development of ongoing partnerships with industry and/or professional bodies

The position may require a Working with Children Check Clearance.

Salary Package: Commensurate with experience Level B from $99,879 to $118,174 p.a. or Level C from $121,953 to $140,246 p.a, plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading.
