The Faculty of Human Sciences is home to a number of world class research facilities and centres including the ARC Centre of Excellence in Cognition and its Disorders (CCD), and the Macquarie University Centre for Language Sciences (CLaS). The research centres are located in the Australian Hearing Hub; a new state-of-the-art facility that brings together researchers from Linguistics, Speech, Hearing, and Cognitive Sciences, and clinical research/professional training teams from Audiology, Speech Pathology and Psychology.

The Department of Linguistics at Macquarie University is one of the largest and most diverse Linguistics departments in Australia. It has an extensive PhD program and excellent postgraduate coursework programs in Audiology, Speech Pathology, Applied Linguistics, TESOL and Translation & Interpreting, in addition to the highly regarded and increasingly popular Bachelor of Speech, Hearing and Language Sciences degree.

The Role

The Macquarie University Master of Speech and Language Pathology program is currently seeking applications from professional clinical placement managers with extensive Speech Pathology Clinical Education experience for a part-time (2 days per week) job share position.  The purpose of the role is to develop, direct and deliver the clinical education for the Master of Speech and Language Pathology program. The successful applicant will convene and teach some academic coursework units, develop relationships with external providers to establish and maintain clinical placements, and supervise the clinical education team.

Reporting to the Program Director, Master of Speech & Language Pathology, you will have relevant qualifications in speech pathology, hold current practising membership of Speech Pathology Australia, and meet the selection criteria listed below.

Selection Criteria

To be considered for the position, you must submit an updated CV, and a separate document which addresses the selection criteria below:

  • Relevant qualifications in speech pathology
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Speech Pathology Australia clinical education standards and requirements
  • Extensive experience as a speech pathologist and clinical educator
  • Sound understanding of speech pathology student development of competence from Novice to Entry Level competence
  • Demonstrated experience managing competing demands from internal and external stakeholders
  • High level written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrated experience managing diverse teams and / or virtual teams

*Employment in this position is conditional upon holding a Working with Children Check Clearance, and Certified Practising Membership of Speech Pathology Australia.

Salary Package: from $115,570 – 122,061 p.a. pro-rata (HEW Level 9), plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading
