The Role

The Department of International Studies: Languages and Cultures in the Faculty of Arts has an opportunity for an experienced administrator to join the team and provide administrative support for the operations of the department. Reporting directly to the Head of Department, you will provide them, and other academics within the department, with advice on University policies, procedures and processes. In addition, you will be responsible for a wide and varied range of administrative duties including budget monitoring, reporting and analysis, website content maintenance, administering curriculum planning and timetabling at the Department level, processing student results, and coordinating recruitment and payment for casual teaching and research staff.

About You

You will have previous experience in an administrative role and enjoy delivering operational and administrative support in a busy environment. You will have excellent attention to detail and be able to communicate and present information clearly to a wide variety of people. You will have a strong professional service focus and be able to actively demonstrate the values of the Faculty of Arts Professional Services Charter: teamwork, excellence, service, and innovation.

  • Substantial experience providing high level professional services in an administrative role.
  • Ability to deliver high quality work in a complex and high-volume environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative and experience developing and implementing process improvements.
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting data and preparing presentations and reports, preferably with exposure to maintaining budgets and student related information.
  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural communication skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Experience working in an administrative role in the Higher Education Sector would be highly regarded.
