This role is open to application by mathematicians who have a strong research interest and background in the theory of Hardy and BMO functional spaces corresponding the differential operators.  The successful candidate will work on the Australian Research Council Discovery Project Grant “Harmonic analysis of rough oscillations” and will collaborate with members of Macquarie University's Analysis Group and other participants of the Discovery Project. Applications are encouraged from candidates with expertise in the areas of spectral multipliers, BMO and Hardy spaces corresponding to elliptic partial differential operators.

Also, the successful candidate will conduct research under limited supervision and will be expected to make significant contributions to the mentioned above Discovery Project and to publish papers in well-regarded mathematical journals.

About You

You will have completed a PhD in harmonic analysis, the theory of partial differential equations or a relevant discipline. Your collaborative approach to working with others will ensure you perform effectively within a multi-disciplinary team. If you have a strong interest in the theory of Hardy and BMO functional spaces, then you will thrive in this position!

About Us

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics’ research is recognised nationally and internationally, with groupings of mathematicians and statisticians working in analysis, biostatistics, category theory, fluid mechanics, mathematical and computational statistics, nonlinear dynamics, optimisation and waves. The Department attracts a substantial amount of external research funding and hosts a steady stream of international visitors.

Our mathematicians have many international collaborations. Members of the Department work with colleagues at many of the other leading Australian Mathematics Departments as well as from many high-profile international mathematics departments, including Université de recherche Paris Sciences et Lettres, Université de Bordeaux, Sun Yat-sen University, Central China Normal University. Furthermore, our statisticians collaborate widely with statistical colleagues nationally and internationally at institutions such as University College London, Harvard University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. For further information about the department and our research, please view our website.

To be considered for this position applicants must respond to the selection criteria below in a separate document submitted as part of the application process. Applicant should also include a Curriculum Vitae with a list of publications. Please also indicate when you can start.

Essential:

  • A PhD awarded in harmonic analysis, partial differential equations or a relevant discipline
  • Excellent knowledge and demonstrated experience in the theory of Hardy and BMO spaces
  • An excellent research record shown by published works or preprints in the area of analysis of partial differential equations and harmonic analysis, especially in the theory of Hardy and BMO functional spaces corresponding to differential operators
  • A track record of working on research projects both individually and in a team-based environment
  • High level written and oral communication skills
