The Roles

We seek qualified academics at Level B and Level C with scholarly expertise in applied economics in the following fields

  • Applied trade economics and policy;
  • Applied Econometrics;
  • Cultural Economics;
  • Public Economics;
  • Urban/Regional economics, including Economic Geography;
  • Environmental/Ecological Economics;
  • Development Economics and Policy;
  • Labour Economics;
  • Behavioural/Experimental Economics.

To be successful in the role you will make a strong contribution to research and teaching in both undergraduate and postgraduate, as well as proactively contribute to the efforts of the Department to enhance its reputation with external audiences.

Selection Criteria – Lecturer

  • A PhD in Economics or a closely related discipline.
  • Evidence of progress towards a well-articulated research agenda and track record of publications in well-regarded economics and interdisciplinary journals.
  • Demonstrated academic knowledge in the discipline and a commitment and capability to deliver high-quality learning and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level in a range of economic subjects.
  • Capacity to independently conduct lectures, tutorials, assessments and exam marking in the relevant discipline area, and evidence of teaching quality.
  • Excellent communication skills, with an ability to relate well to staff and students from diverse backgrounds and to represent the Department to external stakeholders and the general public.
  • Ability to proactively engage or partner with industry and professional bodies on relevant research and/or teaching projects.
  • Demonstrated willingness and/or experience to make a contribution to the academic life and administrative tasks of the Department along with a track record of effective teamwork.

 Selection Criteria – Senior Lecturer

  • A PhD in Economics or a closely related discipline.
  • A well-articulated research agenda and a track record of publications in high-quality international economics journals.
  • Demonstrated academic knowledge in the discipline and a commitment and capability to deliver high-quality learning and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level in a range of economic subjects.
  • Capacity to independently conduct lectures, tutorials, assessments and exam marking in the relevant discipline area, and evidence of teaching quality.
  • Experience and capacity to successfully supervise Honours, Masters and/or PhD research students.
  • Excellent communication skills, with an ability to relate well to staff and students from diverse backgrounds and to represent the Department to external stakeholders and the general public.
  • Ability to proactively engage or partner with industry and professional bodies on relevant research and/or teaching projects.
  • Demonstrated experience to make a contribution to the academic life and administrative tasks of the Department and Faculty along with a track record of effective teamwork.
