Macquarie University’s Faculty of Arts offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs which have a strong practical focus, enhanced by the expertise of our academics, researchers and industry partners. Ranked among the top 100 in the world, our interdisciplinary programs spanning ancient, indigenous and contemporary cultures, languages, media and creative arts, security and intelligence and law empower our students and alumni to explore ideas that have real world impact. Each year, there are employment opportunities for casual academic staff to participate in the delivery of programs. Teaching roles will be undertaken under the supervision of full-time academic staff.
Expressions of Interest are invited from appropriately qualified and experienced individuals who are able to help prepare the next generation of bold thinkers and explorers. Academic casual staff with the Faculty of Arts may be required to present lectures/seminars/tutorials during the day and/or evening. Appointed casual academic staff may also need to undertake student consultation and mark assessments and examinations.
The Faculty of Arts consists of 12 departments. The below departments are currently inviting Expressions of Interest.

- International Studies: Languages and Cultures
- Modern History, Politics and International Relations

Essential Criteria
To be considered for tutor positions, applicants must possess the following:
- An undergraduate degree and post graduate qualification relevant to their desired teaching discipline(s);
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others; and,
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with students.
Desired Criteria
Preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate:
- Tertiary level teaching experience
- Recent relevant industry experience
- Relevant professional qualifications

Remuneration: Remuneration for casual academic jobs is set out in the current Macquarie University Academic Staff Enterprise Agreement 2018.
