The Office of Group Finance provides financial services to support the university mission of teaching and research. This includes financial reporting to the University Executive, Council and stakeholders both in respect to statutory requirements and project reporting as well as preparation and monitoring of budgets. The strategic function of the portfolio includes finance strategy and change management, finance process improvement, process mapping and controlled entity integration projects.
The Group Deputy CFO reports to and assists the Group CFO in the development of the finance strategy for the University group. The role provides advice and support on major university, entity and faculty strategic initiatives. In particular, this role will lead a major transformation program replacing legacy finance systems across the faculties. It will oversee finance strategy and implementation, finance business partnering, and group shared services functions to ensure their leadership delivers affective, efficient processing and value-added services. The appointee will lead the implementation of the finance service model and work to embed a culture of service and support throughout the functions.
The appointee will be CA, or CPA qualified, ideally with a Masters level degree in Accounting, Finance or Business together with demonstrated experience in a similar level role in a complex services organisation. Of critical importance will be experience in leading and implementing change, preferably within a multi-functional organisation or complex finance function, as well as managing a large team in a similar complex environment. Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills will be critical.
