The portfolio of the Chief Operating Officer oversees the resources, operations and infrastructure of the University and creates an operating environment conducive to research excellence, high quality learning / teaching and stakeholder engagement.
The General Counsel's Office within the Chief Operating Officer portfolio is responsible for the provision of legal services to the University, including providing legal advice to the Council, the Chancellor, the Vice-Chancellor, senior executives and other officers of the University and co-ordinating any external legal services provided to the University.
The Role (Part-time, 2 days per week)
The Legal Secretary in the General Counsel Office provides professional, high level secretarial and administrative support to University solicitors in the delivery of the General Counsel Office objectives.
The successful candidate will be required to work on Mondays and Tuesdays.
To be considered for the position, you must submit a cover letter which addresses the criteria below and upload this and your CV as part of the application process:
- At least 5 years' experience working as a legal secretary, preferably in-house.
- Excellent understanding of Land & Property Information dealings and processes for registration of instruments.
- Excellent word formatting skills, ability to use review functions for legal red-lining of documents and create tables and indexes.
- Preparing and editing of correspondence and legal agreements.
- Pro-active in managing deadlines.
- Experience with a broad range of administrative and office management policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of general office functions and experience in a legal office.

Salary Package: From $67,625 - $76,886 per annum (pro-rata) (HEW Level 5), plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading
