  • Salary Package: From $103,233 to $114,870 (HEW Level 8), plus 17% employer’s superannuation contribution and annual leave loading
  • Appointment Types: Full-time, fixed term for 2 years
  • Location: Macquarie University, North Ryde

The Role

The Executive Officer is a critical role in delivering program, project, planning and performance support and analysis to the Vice-President, Strategy, Planning and Performance (VPSPP). This role will be responsible for:

  • Managing and/or coordinating a portfolio of projects to support the VPSPP, the University Operating Plan implementation and to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Writing papers, developing submissions and presentations.
  • Managing and overseeing the Office of VPSPP and associated portfolio and program budgets.
  • Support the implementation of a portfolio and program management framework.
  • Identify, critically evaluate, and address or escalate areas of potential risks associated with the portfolio and its activities.
  • Provide updates and reports on the activities of the portfolio for use by a variety of stakeholders across the University.
  • Support the VPSPP in providing input for key University activities.
  • Research, analyse and report on strategic trends, policies, and practices both within and external to the University.
  • Conduct and commission analysis and consolidation of data, including benchmarking and performance metrics.

About You

We are looking for highly motivated and professional candidate with extensive experience in project management and coordination, who has excellent analytical skills, an eye for detail, and advanced report writing and presentation. You are an effective communicator who have successfully built and maintained collaborative relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and demonstrate the ability to influence at all levels, including senior management.

The Vice-President, Strategy, Planning and Performance (VPSPP) holds executive responsibility for the development and execution of university strategy, cross-institutional planning, and oversight of whole of University Group performance.

The VPSPP supports the Vice-Chancellor, Executive Group and University Council in ensuring the long-term sustainability and strategic direction of the University and its group subsidiaries.

  • Qualification in Portfolio, Program and Project Management or related field and/or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and coordinating a program or projects within budget and timeline.
  • Extensive experience in building, managing and influencing positive relationships with key and diverse stakeholders.
  • Undertaking research, delivering insightful information, data analysis and reporting to management for informed decision-making.
  • Preparation and monitoring of budgets.
