The Role

We are looking for two postdoctoral research fellows to join the Department of Cognitive Science and the Macquarie University Centre for Reading to work on a new project funded by the Australian Research Council, “When reading takes off: children’s word learning during independent reading”.

About You

The successful candidates will have a PhD in Cognitive Science, with a passion for understanding how children learn to read. They will have excellent oral and written communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team.

Position 1 (1.0FTE)

  • PhD in children’s reading development or related field
  • Demonstrated experience in using state-of-the-art eye-tracking equipment
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, running and analysing experimental studies
  • Proven experience working with school-aged children
  • Demonstrated expertise in using the latest statistical packages, including RStudio

    Position 2 (0.6FTE)

  • PhD in children’s reading development or related field
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and co-ordinating large research projects
  • Proven experience working with school-aged children

Employment in this position is conditional upon holding a Working with Children Check Clearance.

This position requires you to comply with occupational screening, assessment and vaccinations in line with Macquarie University health requirements and requires a current and valid Working with Children Check Clearance for NSW.  You may also have to satisfy Macquarie University that you meet all background checks (including criminal record and qualification checks).
